Busy Weeks at Macon Speedway to End the Month of July

MACON, IL (July 11) -As the temperature heats up as we close in on the middle of July, so does that racing calendar at Macon Speedway. Due to inclement weather over the last few weeks, many events have been moved to the next couple of weeks setting up for a hectic end of July with blockbuster shows for the fans! Here is a list of events to close out the month of July at Macon Speedway.

July 14: The Wolfpack Challenge will take center stage this night with a UMP Modified Special paying $1000 to win and $125 to start. This is also St Louis Cardinals night with special guest, club mascot “Fred Bird”. Spectators will have an opportunity to pose with Fred Bird prior to the start of the race night. This event is brought to you by Skeff Distributing in Decatur, IL. The Late Model division at Macon Speedway will receive an increase in payout starting July 14. The winner of the Late Model feature will now receive $1000 for their victory and $125 to start. The tire rule for the Late Model division at Macon Speedway is as follows; The Hoosier LM20, LM40 and the D55.

July 20: The Night of NASCAR stars will be featured at Macon Speedway. Tony Stewart will be on hand for an autograph session from 4:30 – 5:30 then later that night strap into a Crate Late Model and compete on the 1/5 mile oval. The O’Reilly POWRi National Midget Series and the POWRi Mini-Sprints will also complete the racing card in the Dana Godfrey memorial. John Godfrey has been active in POWRi since its inception and Spike is one of POWRi’s strongest supporters and sponsors. This race will remember and honor Godfrey’s wife, Dana, who was instrumental in Godfrey’s racing success. Gates open at 3 and the first race is set to start at 7. This event is brought to you by Caterpillar.
July 21: The postponed Herald & Review 100 will now take place on the 21st. The $6000 to win Late Model event will be a huge draw and attract some of the best drivers and teams. The Barbeck Modifieds will also run for a special purse of $600 to win. The Sportsmen, Street Stock and Hornet divisions will run features only during this night. Gates open at 5 and racing at 7. Tickets can be purchased that day at the Main Grandstand for an Adult ticket price of $20 and $5 for kids 6-12. Kids 5 & under are admitted for free. The Christmas in July toy drive with Prairie Land A.B.A.T.E that was scheduled for this night has been rescheduled for Aug. 25th.

July 28: The Barbeck Communications Modifieds will once again compete in a special event part of the fast five Bonanza with a $1500 top prize for the winner. The Springfield Mile qualifier for the sportsmen division will also happen on this night along with the dog days of summer hot dog races. The Late Models, Street Stock and Hornet divisions will also compete this night. This event is fueled by Morgan Distributing Inc, located in Decatur, IL. Gates open at 5 and the green flag drops at 7pm


NASCAR Stars Kenny Wallace, Ken Schrader, Tony Stewart and local Promoter Bob Sargent purchased Macon Speedway in January of 2007. Macon Speedway is located 9 miles south of Decatur, IL on US 51 then .6 miles west on Andrews Street, then south on Wiles.
