Bahrs Bags Two Grand at QCR Again!!! EAST MOLINE, IL - (May 25) - Jason Bahrs proved once again hes the man to beat at the Street Stock Nationals. Bahrs lead all 40 laps en route to his second straight $2,000 check. 28 cars from all over Illinois and Iowa checked in to take shot at the big money. Probably the most impressive run of the night came from Jeff Joldersma out of McClelland, IA (20 minutes from Omaha, Neb.). After battling Clint Morehouse for most of the race for second, Joldersma cut a tire forcing him pit side. He made it back out and came all the way from dead last to take third. Morehouse would finish second followed by Joldersma, Joe Beal, and Justin Rutledge. The heat races went to Rutledge, Bahrs, Morehouse, and Joldersma. The semi-feature went to Steve Lewis. The IMCA Late Models stole the show with one of the best finishes Quad City Raceway has ever seen. Rock Islands John Freeman took the early lead with the 21G of Corey Goldbeck in chase. Goldbeck finally saw an opportunity and took the lead. Meanwhile, Hershel Roberts and Mike Murphy Jr. were making their way to the front taking completely different routes. Roberts was hugging the bottom to pass cars while Murphy was all the way up against the wall. Roberts was the first to catch Goldbeck and before long Roberts was in the lead. After a late caution Roberts built up a nice lead again but with every lap Murphy was getting closer and closer. Roberts was still running the bottom and Murphy was still all the way up against the wall. The crowd was on their feet as Roberts took the white flag. They were side by side in turns one and two with Roberts getting small advantage going down the backstretch. They were side by side again in turns three and four and it was a drag race down the front stretch with Murphy getting Roberts by nose at the flag stand. Shawn Mulvany took third followed by Goldbeck and Adam Oppendike. Heat race wins went to Goldbeck and Freeman. Wade Dahl continued his dominates in the UMP 4 Cylinders at the Quad City Raceway picking up another feature win. At the beginning of the race you could throw a blanket over spots first through seventh. Dahl quickly went from fifth to first and never looked back. The defending UMP National 4 Cylinder champion, D.J. Werkmeister, gave Dahl a challenge for a few laps before pulling into the infield with mechanical problems. Todd Sibley in the 125 made his 2008 debut with very strong second place finish with Andy Bickel third, Robert Morrow fourth, and Joseph Wagner fifth. The heat race win went to Werkmeister. The UMP Modifieds closed out the racing action Sunday. Jake Waterman took control of the early lead with Milo Veloz Jr. and Mike Zemo Jr. right on his bumper. After leading several laps, Waterman pulled the 10 car into the infield with problems under the hood. Veloz took over the lead and began pulling away from the pack. Veloz would lead the rest of the way winning another feature at QCR. Marty Thompson had a nice run coming all the way from the back to challenge Zemo for second. Another driver who had an impressive run was Colonas Jerry Durbin. Even with smoke coming out the back of the car he still passed five cars and finished fourth. Doug Crampton also came from the back to take home fifth. The heats went to Zemo and Waterman. Stuart Motorsports, Inc. would like to thank all the drivers, fans, and
