Dahl Does It Again!!! by: Brad Hines EAST MOLINE, IL (June 8) - With strong thunderstorms looming in the Quad City area, Stuart Motorsports, Inc. decided to go ahead and run Sunday night and not 10 minutes after the races were over the rain fell in sheets. Nearly 70 cars showed up despite the serve weather in the area. The UMP Street Stocks ran their feature event first. Ron Marks Jr., the passing points leader for the night, rolled a dice to see how many in the top six in passing points would be inverted. He rolled a three which gave the front row to Chris Lawrence and Jason Bahrs. Bahrs immediately took advantage of his starting spot and jumped out to the lead. Buck Harmening came from his fifth starting spot and started challenging Lawrence for second. Meanwhile, Clint Morehouse was flying through the field, picking off cars left and right. Back up front Bahrs caught up to lapped traffic very quickly and weaved his way through it fairly easily. After a few cautions Morehouse found himself right on Harmening for second. He managed to get by Harmening and hold onto second. Bahrs would lead the race wire to wire to make it three in a row at QCR. Along with Morehouses second place finish he also earned the JC Dubil Hard Charger Award by passing 13 cars. Harmening would come in third followed by Korey Peterson and Lawrence. Heat race wins went to Bahrs and Marks. Donovan Lodge was the passing points leader for the UMP Modifieds, so he had the honor of rolling the dice and he rolled a four, inverting the top four in passing points. Thad Wilson grabbed the lead from his inside front row starting spot with Lodge moving up to second right away. After Wilson and Lodge raced several laps side by side, Lodge found himself in first. Marty Thompson was also in the mix racing right on Wilsons and Lodges bumpers. Thompson would also get by Wilson and then set his sights on Lodge. Thompson would catch up to Lodge but couldnt make the move to get by him and before long Thompson found himself trying to hold onto second from a challenging Doug Crampton. Lodge would pull away from the pack while Thompson and Crampton raced second. Lodge went onto take the checkered flag followed by Thompson, Crampton, Ray Bollinger, and Milo Veloz Jr. Heat race wins went to Crampton and Brad Pershy. The UMP 4 Cylinders had a special attraction for their feature. Chris Damitz of Chris Damitz Photography put up a $50 bounty for any 4 Cylinder that could beat the QCR undefeated, Wade Dahl. Stuart Motorsports, Inc. decided to throw in an extra $50 for Dahl if he could keep his unbeaten streak going. UMP 4 Cylinder passing points leader, R.J. Gonzales, rolled the dice and didnt like what he rolled. He rolled a six. On the other hand Dahl loved his roll because it put him on the inside front row. Once everyone saw the feature starting line-up they thought it was a sure extra $50 for Dahl. Dubuques Dustin Wilwert wasnt going to let Dahl get off easy though. Coming from his seventh starting spot, Wilwert first raced Todd Sibley for second before setting aim on Dahl. Once by Sibley, Wilwert caught Dahl and raced him hard for several laps and on the last lap Wilwert tried to pull next to Dahl for the pass but Dahl proved he was too fast and held on for another feature win. Sibley would come home third followed by Andy Bickel, who came from 11th, and Justin Kay, who came from 13th. Heat race wins went to Sibley and Tim Woeckener. The IMCA Late Models put on another great race. Jason Bert grabbed the early lead with John Freeman right on him in second. Adam Oppendike made his way up front and got by Freeman and then got by Bert on the low side of the track. Before long Shawn Mulvany was on Oppendike for the lead. Mulvany also used the low side of track to take over the lead from Oppendike. Meanwhile, Ray Guss Jr. coming from the ninth starting spot was moving through the pack very quickly. After Guss got by Oppendike on the high side he began closing the gap on Mulvany. After trying several laps to get by Mulvany on the bottom, Guss jumped to the high side and coming out of turn two he took over the lead. Guss would lead the rest of the way for his second win in a row at QCR. Mulvany would hold onto second followed by Hershel Roberts, Mike Garland, and Oppendike. Heat race wins went to Roberts and Oppendike. Stuart Motorsports, Inc. would like to thank all the drivers, fans, and
