Youngster Brandon Sheppard had his best showing ever at Macon
SpeedwayMACON, IL (July 19) - In a race where no one could find
the right racing groove, Kyle Logue showed why he’s the face of Macon
Speedway. The leader by far in Big Ten MidWest series standings, Logue
picked up win number seven of the year. Logue’s late model ran smooth
through the corners when no one else could get a handle on the track.
“I like it. I could stay on the throttle all the way through the corner.”
Logue said.
Youngster Brandon Sheppard had his best showing ever at Macon Speedway, he
finished second one spot in front of his dad, Late Model star and
multi-feature winner Steve Sheppard Jr.
Late model contender Jayme Zidar was serving a one race suspension for his
antics last week. It was a costly penalty as Logue now moves into first
place in championship standings and lengthens his lead in the Big Ten
MidWest Series standings.
Dave Crawley got his fourth feature win of the year in the BARBECK
Communications Modifieds. Crawley started up front and held the lead start
to finish. Jeremy Nichols found himself in the same position as he was in
Friday night's race, second place with the leader pulling away. It was
another good points run for Jim Leka, his third place finish will keep him
near the top of the standings. Best fan in the stands driver Roger Drake
picked Jeff Drake as his best fan, earning them both a $100 prize.
Scott Landers couldn't hold off Rick Roedel's late race charge, his first
Hogan Grain/KUBOTA sportsman win at Macon Speedway. The winner of the
sportsman feature qualifies for the Sportsman Championship race at the
Springfield Mile. Roedel had take second place away from Tim Bedinger and
set his sights on the lead. Using patience and a fast high line, Roedel
passed Landers with ten laps to go. Tim Bedinger was with the leaders
throughout the race but finished in third.
Jeff Graham made an impressive rebound. His sportsman was took a beating
today in both the heat and the feature. But with some pit repairs and some
tough driving, he turned what could've been a DNS into a fifth place finish.
It's that kind of dedication that has him atop the sportsman championship
standings.
Steve Ewing almost gave away a street stock feature win with a last lap
bobble in turn two. But coming out of turn four on the top of the racetrack
kept Ewing out of trouble. Terry Reed, who led going into the turn, got
turned around coming off the last turn. Racecars piled up behind, except for
Ewing who got away clean.
