TRACK AND DRIVERS GET READY FOR NEXT WEEKEND’S DOUBLE HEADER!


MACON, IL (May 20) - This week join us for our annual Boys & Girls Scout Night on Saturday, May 23. The scouts will kick off the day by competing in a pinewood derby scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm at the track. The pinewood derby is open to all children who would like to participate. We will also be having our second kid’s club event of the year, where kids will be making box cars to prepare for the annual box car races scheduled for Saturday, June 27. All boy and girl scouts are encouraged to wear their uniforms to the race and their parents will be admitted for ½ price.

The POWRi Micros will be back in action for the second time this year as it will be the second of eight races of the Summer Series for the POWRi Micro division. Join us as the UMP modifieds, Touchstone Energy sportsman, street stocks and hornets also take center stage for the evening’s festivities. The Touchstone Energy sportsman will run a double feature to make up their race that was postponed due to Mother Nature. New this year, Macon Speedway’s street stock division will be competing in the CILSSS street stock special which will have an increased payout of $500 to win. The UMP Late Model division will take the night off to prepare for Monday nights Night of Nascar Stars I where the Northern Allstar Late Models will be rolling into town to compete with the local track heroes. Tickets are on sale now for all three Nights of Nascar Stars by calling 217-764-3000.

Macon Speedway’s exciting summer schedule includes the Memorial Day special featuring the Northern All-Star Late Models plus NASCAR Stars on May 25 which includes Ken Schrader, Kenny Wallace, Steven Wallace and local favorite Justin Allgaier. The Night of Nascar Stars racing action is then followed by the Lite Beer Twin 50’s on June 6 and NASCAR Night II on June 11. The action heats up at the track for the Herald & Review 100 in combination with UMP Summernationals on July 2. Return to the track for the Firecracker 40’s on our nation’s birthday, July 4, as we will definitely fire things up for the Independence Day holiday for another spectacular week at the super-fast 1/5 mile.

Two time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart will be the Grand Marshall for the second Night of NASCAR Stars at Macon Speedway on June 11. Also joining Tony will be Mark Martin. The third Night of Nascar Stars at Macon Speedway will take place on July 22 and will feature Kasey Kahne and Kenny Wallace.

Our gates will open at 5 pm, with racing beginning at 7 pm. Adults are $10 and children 12 and under are admitted for free.
