Edward’s Subway Show Car to Appear at Macon Speedway This Saturday, July 4!

MACON, IL (June 30) - Bring your camera to Macon Speedway this Saturday Night for our annual 95Q Firecracker 40’s.  Bring your friends and family to celebrate our great nation by spending your evening with us.  Sit back and enjoy a night full of racing which will include the UMP Modified, Touchstone Energy Sportsman, Street Stocks, Hornets and Mini Sprints plus a huge FIREWORKS display.  While you are there get your photo taken next to the #99 Carl Edwards show car.  The show car will be on display from 4-10 pm.  Dave Crawley took home a $600 prize for winning the 95Q Firecracker 40 for the UMP Modified division in 2008.  This year will be the first year that the UMP Street Stocks will have a chance to run the 40 lap feature and the winner of that division will take home a first place prize of $400!

In just five short years, Carl Edwards has had a storied NASCAR career.  Moving his way from the Craftsman Truck Series to NASCAR’s elite Sprint Cup Series, winning a Busch Series Championship and chalking up numerous wins in between, he is considered one the NASCAR’s most voracious competitors.

In the first 10 years of his career, Carl Edwards accumulated two NASCAR sanctioned track championships, three Rookie-of-the-Year honors, and 75 feature wins while racing on both dirt and pavement tracks across the country.  The drive and determination that Edwards showed in those 10 years launched him into a successful NASCAR career that continues into 2007 as he sets out to compete full-time in both the NASCAR Nextel Cup and Busch Series for the third consecutive year. Racing is not new to Edwards.  His father, Carl ”Mike” Edwards, has been racing modified stock cars and USAC midgets for four decades accumulating over 200 feature wins at several Midwestern tracks.  Carl Edwards, Jr. began his racing career in 1993 at the age of 13 driving four-cylinder mini-sprints.

Don’t forget the huge Fireworks display that will be held at dusk!  Macon Speedway fans will be in for a treat as the thrilling Fireworks light up the sky in Macon Illlinois.

Macon Speedway races every Saturday night from April through September.  Macon Speedway is located 9 miles south of Decatur, IL on US 51 then .6 miles west on Andrews Street, then south on Wiles.  For more information, call 217-764-3000(track), 217-764-3220(information hotline), or contact us via email at track@trackenterprises.com.  Also visit www.maconracing.com or www.trackenterprises.com .
