Macon Speedway Looks to Repeat This Saturday Night
MACON, IL (April 6) - Macon Speedway had a hugely successful Opening Night
last Saturday night and is working hard to bring fans and drivers back again
this Saturday night for the 2nd of 31 extremely entertaining nights on its
impressive schedule. “We had an impressive number of fans and cars that
turned out to kick off the season last Saturday night and we hope that they
will all join us again this coming Saturday night”, said Bob Sargent owner
of Macon Speedway.
Saturday night’s schedule will feature all 6 UMP divisions, including the
Late Models, Modifieds, Sportsman, Street Stock, Pro Hornets and the Amateur
Hornets. Defending 2009 Macon Speedway track champions Kyle Logue and Blake
Shelley are expected to make their debuts this Saturday night to start the
long awaited season of defending their titles.
Decatur’s Dave Crawley Jr., AKA “Elvis” claimed four checkered flags last
Saturday night to celebrate his birthday. Rusty Schlenk of Jackson, MI.,
held off Jacksonville’s Adam Mefford and Urbana’s Richie Hedrick for the
first Late Model feature of 2010. Larry Russell, Jr., “Bub”, who was a top
ten points finisher in 2009, would take the checkered flag and the bonus
from Decatur Used Cars in the UMP Street Stock division. Joe Reed and
Jonathon Drake took home the checkered in their Hornet classes to start the
2010 season off. Come watch this Saturday night as these drivers will be
back to try and bring home a second consecutive checkered flag.
This weekend will be the first edition to Macon Speedway’s “Best Fan in the
Stands” where a lucky fan will win $100 if their name is draw from the box
of entry forms from last Saturday’s race, after the Modified feature event.
Macon Speedway offers fun family entertainment every Saturday night from
April to September. With many fan favorite events on schedule, including
three “Night of NASCAR Stars” nights planned and the famous Herald and
Review 100, UMP’s premier SummerNational event, 2010 is stacking up to be a

Gates will open at 5:00 and racing will start at 7:00. Adults are $10 and
kids 12 and under get in free with a paying adult.
