MACON, IL (May 12) - Join us this Saturday night at Macon Speedway and watch as the POWRI Midgets and Micros along with 4 UMP divisions will take to the track for the Flag Night festivities. The UMP Modifieds will be competing in a special weekend series at Jacksonville Speedway on Friday night, then make the short trek to Macon Speedway Saturday night then head West again to Shepp’s Speedway for some Sunday night fun. The UMP Modified division will be competing for an added $600 bonus paid throughout the top three positions. Points will be accumulated each night and after all three events are concluded the top three UMP Modifieds will be awarded the extra prize money. Flag night will be the theme for this Saturday night as the first 200 children into the main gate will receive a free flag to wave to help cheer on the local dirt track heroes. 2007 POWRi Midget Champ Brad Loyet, takes the early lead in the series followed closely by 2-time and defending champ Brad Kuhn. Zach Daum, Nick Knepper and Austin Brown round out the top five following the Hut 100 event. In the 600cc Micro Sprint Series, Nic Harris takes the early lead over Jeremy Camp and three time POWRi champ Derek King. Harris is coming off a third place finish at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, IN and also a top five finish at DuQuoin, IL to start the season. Rounding out the top five are Andrew Felker and Brandon Graybeal. The Saturday night event at Macon Speedway will be a tune up for teams getting ready for the June 18th & 19th POWRi Micro Sprint Nationals at the famed speedway. Macon Speedway will have the first of three Nights of Nascar Stars on May 31 with Track Co-owners Kenny Wallace and Kenny Schrader in attendance along with Local Nationwide Series driver Justin Allgaier and Steven Wallace. Two time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart will be the Grand Marshall for the second Night of NASCAR Stars at Macon Speedway on June 15. The third Night of Nascar Stars at Macon Speedway will take place on July 22 and will feature NASCAR legend Bill Elliott. Tickets are on sale now by calling 217-764-3200. Next Saturday night, Macon Speedway will be hosting the Boys and Girls Scout night featuring box car racing open to everyone at 1:00 pm plus exciting weekly racing featuring all six UMP divisions.
