KNOXVILLE, IL (August 5, 2010) - The Sprint Invaders, open wheel modifieds, and mod lites provided the entertainment Motorsports wise this year as promoter Rick Benson came out of retirement and the 2010 fair race was a good one in front of a huge fair crowd. The sprint car division had not competed at the half mile facility since 1991.The Sprint Invaders twenty lap feature saw early leader Matt Sutton build a comfortable lead with Jimmy Davies, Kaley Gharst, Ryan Jamison, and Justin Parrish in pursuit. Lap twelve saw Gharst move around Davies for second, setting his sights on Sutton for he lead. As the leaders approached lapped traffic Gharst moved his mount around Sutton for the lead coming out of turn two on lap fifteen a lead he would never relinquish leading the next five laps for victory. Sutton finished second, Jimmie Davies third, Ryan Jamison fourth, with Justin Parrish fifth. Galesburg, Illinois, native A.J.Fike in his only appearance ever at Knox County Raceway won the twenty lap oen wheel modified feature for his first win of the season. Fike took over the lead on lap five as leader Dean McGee Sr. pulled into the pits with mechanical issues ending his night. Fike the polesitter was followed across the stripe by Darren Thye in second, Kevin Peters third, Donovan Lodge fourth, with Bruce Hanford rounding out the top five. Hometown driver Greg Rossell from Knoxville, Illinois,took the lead on lap six and lead the remaining six laps for the twelve lap mod lite feature victory. Bill Holden placed second, Mike Morrill third, Justin Bucholz fourth with Rob Guss fifth.
