EAST MOLINE, IL (August 8) - It was Triple E Sales night at the Quad City Speedway Sunday and the racing action got a little late start due to earlier afternoon showers. After some great qualifying races the grader was brought out to touch up the racing surface. It seems to have worked as all five features featured two and three wide racing. The first feature to hit the track was the Extreme Auto Glass Street Stock and R. J. Gonzales jumped out front. After a couple of cautions on the second lap it was Gonzales out front with Rick Schriner and Chris Lawrence funning side by side trying to run him down. The caution came out a few more times at lap six to end the cautions. On the restart it was Gonzales back out front. Gonzales went on for the win to become the first new winner of the night. Lawrence was second with Schriner third. Matt Werner came from his eighth starting spot to tak fourth with Rob Nylin fifth. It appeared Ron Marks Jr and Mike Anderson had finished in the top ten but they were penaliczed to the rear of the field for post race altercations. The Verplaetse Excavating IMCA Modified feature ran with only two cautions, the first coming out after the first lap for debris. On the start it was Mark Vervynck out front and the restart was the same way. By lap five Vervynck was holding off the challenges of Greg Durbin. With three laps to go the other caution came out as it appeared point leader, Craig Crawford lost an engine and coasted to a stop. On the restart vervynck got super loose coming off turn four and Durbin went by bringing four cars with him. Durbin took his second win of the year with Perry Gellerstedt second. Jerry Durbin was third with Jake Waterman fourth and Todd Dykema fifth. Jerry Bailey Jr. leaped out front of the SNI of Geneseo A-Modified feature, but by the time the cars got to turn three it was Doug Crampton out front with Jason Pershy right on his tail. Soon ninth place starter, John Bull moved in to join the chase. At the mid-race point bull moved into second and the chase was on. By lap sixteen Bull was applying the pressure to Crampton. With two laps to go the caution came out for a car stopped on the back stretch tightening the field back up. Crampton took his third win of the year holding off a hard charging Bull for the last two laps. Twelfth place starter, Ryan Dolan was third with Pershy holding on for fourth, and Andy Warner fifth. Jeremy Gustaf took the early lead of the Sexton Ford IMCA Late Model feature and Immediately it was two and three wide racing all the way back through the field. A fourth lap restart saw Gustaf back out front with sixth place starter, Nate Beuseling right on his back bumper. At lap seven Beuseling moved out front bringing eighth place starter, Shawn Mulvany and tenth place starter, Ray Guss Jr. with him. By lap twelve Mike Garland joined in the battle of the top four. A restart at lap sixteen tightened thigs up and Guss started working on Beuseling. The last nine laps Beuseling had all he could handle holding Guss off as Guss worked the inside on him. Beuseling became the second new winner of the night with Guss second and Garland third. Sixteenth place starter, Todd Malmstrom was fourth with Gustaf holding on for fifth. All twenty-one cars on hand made the starting call for the Aaron’s Affordable Towing 4 Cylinder feature with Mike Cusack taking the early lead. On a second lap restart Jake Ellithorpe took over the point and never looked back as he sailed on to become the third new face in victory lane of the night. Eleventh place starter, Brandon Dahl was second with Dale Tucker third. Chad Tucker came from seventeenth to claim fourth with Joey Clays rounding out the top five.
