EAST MOLINE, IL (August 15) - Sunday night was River Bend Pizza night at the Quad City Speedway and River Bend Pizza of Port Byron gave extra incentive for the Veplaetse Excavating IMCA Modifieds by adding to the purse including a payoff of four hundred dollars to the winner. The IMCA Modified feature got off to a rough start with a few cautions in the first two laps. After that the caution was put away for the remaining thirteen laps. Pole sitter, Mark Vervynck led the first two laps and on the restart he edged back out front but by the field had gotten out of turn two it was fifth place starter, Jake Waterman leading the pack with Jerry Durbin in hot pursuit. Waterman went on for his fifth win of the season and the four hundred in prize money. Durbin held on for second while holding off the challenges of twelfth place starter, Mike Fluegel who finished third. Vervynck held on for fourth with Joe Jones Jr fifth. Extreme Auto Glass Street Stock action saw Matt Werner snatch the early lead, but he soon had Rick Schriner battling side by side with him. At lap three Schriner moved out front with Werner and Chris Lawrence racing side by side trying to catch him. With five laps to go second and third place runner, Werner and Lawrence got together bringing out the caution and sending both cars to the rear. Schriner went on for his second trip to victory lane of the season. Seventh and eighth place starters Ron Marks Jr and Rob Nylin were second and third with Werner and Lawrence coming back through the field to take fourth and fifth respectively. Ryan Dolan used his pole starting spot to take the lead of the SNI of Geneseo A Modified feture and immediately had John Bull and Doug Crampton on his tail chasing him. A mid-race restart saw Dolan out front being challenged by dead last place starter Milo Velox Jr in a car he had just finished putting together this afternoon. On lap twelve Veloz went out front and on for his fifth win of the year. In the last few laps Bull moved in to take second with Dolan hanging on for third. Jason Pershy was fourth with Crampton fifth. On the drop of the green of the Sexton Ford IMCA Late Model feature Adam Oppendike went to the point and a fifth lap restart saw a three car wide battle develop behind him. On lap nine Mike Garland got by to take over the lead bringing Ray Guss Jr with him. Mike Murphy Jr had started working the top side and on lap sixteen charged by to take over the point and soon looked like he was stretching it out. The caution flew at lap twenty-one for Murphy as he sat against the wall on the exit of turn two. On the restart Guss took over with a three car battle behind him for second. Guss went on for his eighth victory of the season with Matt Ryan taking second and Garland third. Rob Toland was fourth with Oppendike holding on for fifth. Twenty of the twenty-one Aaron’s Affordable Towing cars made the strting call for the feature with Mike Cusack taking the early lead. An a second lap restart Todd Sibley charged out front with Brandon Dahl in tow. With two laps to go a caution flew and on the restart it was Sibley and Dahl racing side by side. At the checkered it was Sibley edging Dahl by about one foot to take his second win of the year. Zach Dahl was third with Brandon Jewell fourth and Aaron Hitt fifth. Next Sunday the races will be sponsored by Extreme Auto Glass.
