Macon Speedway Set for Three Busy Days Friday, Saturday,
Sunday
MACON, IL (March 24, 2011) - Macon Speedway has 2 Big Car Shows
scheduled; Friday, March 25 @ Chevrolet Hall of Fame Museum located at
3635 E. State Rte 36 Decatur, IL. From 4:00PM- 7:00PM. And Saturday,
March 26 @ Auto Zone located at 3050 N. Brett Ave Decatur, IL. from
12:00PM – 4:00PM. Fans are welcome to attend to see the cars up close
that will be racing at Macon Speedway each Saturday. Prizes and drawings
during these two shows to be given away. The third busy day will be
practice at the speedway on Sunday.
Macon Speedway opened for practice on Sunday, March 20. Approximately
60 cars took to the track with new dirt that was added in the off
season. A large crowd of spectators took advantage of the free
admission on the grandstand side to get a sample of what the speedway
has to offer for 2011. All in attendance were pleased with the continued
improvements that Bob Sargent has made to the 1/5 action track of the
Midwest. Drivers were impressed with the improved banking and the
overall track condition. Grandstand spectators commented that changes
were noticeable almost from the moment they stepped through the gates.
Our second Test-N-Tune will be Sunday, March 27. Pits open at 11:00AM.
Practice from 12:00-4:00PM. There will be free grandstands once again.
The new, improved Macon Speedway opens for the 2011 racing season on
Saturday, April 2. Gates will open Saturday at 5:00 PM and racing
will start promptly at 7:00 PM. Fans are encouraged to come early April
2 to our Fourth Annual Spring Fling.
Fans visiting Macon Speedway will experience some of the fastest,
action-packed short track racing in the region. Weekly racing at Macon
Speedway features five UMP sanctioned divisions: Chevrolet Late Model,
Billingsley Towing Modified, Touchstone Energy Sportsman, Street Stock,
Pro Hornets and Amateur Hornets. Our exciting High School Hornets will
also make their debut on April 30. Macon Speedway has been home to many
of the top racers in the country today.
NASCAR Stars Kenny Wallace, Ken Schrader, Tony Stewart and Promoter Bob
Sargent once again welcome the fans and drivers this year. Many special
dates are on the schedule and don’t miss any of the action at Macon
Speedway each and every Saturday night starting April 2 running
through the end of September. Macon Speedway is proud to be part of the
$100,000 Contingency Connection program for the 2011 season. Macon
