EAST MOLINE, IL (June 26, 2011) - Sunday was a special night at Quad City Speedway especially for two people, as Delbert and Beverly Hahn renewed their wedding vows on the front straight-away with Ray Guss Jr and Matt Werner looking on. The Verplaetse Excavating IMCA Modified feature started with a pair of nineteen’s on the front row, Drew Otten in his 19X and Mark Vervynck in his 19C. Vervynck sailed out front to take the early lead and soon had Mitch Morris there putting the pressure on. Morris took over the point on lap eight and looked to be in good shape, but the caution flew with two laps to go tightening the field back up. On the restart it was Morris back out front and going on for his first win of the season. Thad Wilson was second with vervynck holding on for third. Craig Crawford was fourth with T. J. Patz fifth. When the Extreme Auto Glass Street Stock cars came across to complete the
first lap of the feature it was three cars wide for the lead with Cord
Williams leading by a bumper over Cary Brown and Jerame Mowery. Williams
held on to the lead until lap eight when Chuck Fox went by. Fox held on
through the checkers to become the second new winner of the night. Eighth
place strter, Nathan Hall was second with R. J. Gonzales third, Rob Henry
fourth and Williams holding on for fifth. Unfortunately for Pershy a sixth lap caution saw him pull to the infield with mechanical problems. On the restart it was Lewis out front again with John Bull right beside him. Lap seven they came across the line side by side, but on lap eight it was clearly Lewis back out front. On lap sixteen Brandon Durbin got by both Bull and Lewis to take over the point and hold on to take his first victory this year. Bull was second with Matt Werner taking third. Lewis held on for fourth with Doug Crampton fifth. An early caution in the Sexton Ford IMCA Late Model feature sent twelfth place starter, Matt Ryan to start dead last on the field as Billy Tuckwell snatched the early lead. On lap ten tenth place starter, Ray Guss Jr went out front and on for his fourth win this season. Nate Beuseling tried to put some pressure on Guss, but had to settle for second. Ryan came back through the field to take third with Shawn Mulvany fourth. Gary Webb was fifth in a very tight battle with Adam Oppendike. Jason Blocker took the early lead of the Aaron’s Affordable Towing 4
Cylinder feature, but an eighth lap caution saw him side lined and out of
the race. It was a double front row restart with Mike Wisdom moving out
front. On a white flag charge Aaron Hitt took the win for his third victory
in a row. Wisdom was a strong second followed by Brandon Dahl, Steven
Phillips and Jake Ellithorpe, in that order. Extreme Auto Glass Street Stock Affordable Parking Lot A Modified Sexton Ford IMCA Late Model Aaron’s Affordable Towing 4 Cylinder
