Jake Griffin Prepares for UMP DIRTCar Nationals; Welcomes New Sponsors 

QUINCY, IL (February 13, 2012) - With the 2012 season now upon us Jake Griffin is preparing for his most ambitious campaign to date, and he will be opening it February 15^th-21^st at Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Florida) during the 41^st Annual UNOH DIRTCar Nationals. 

While Jake has been eagerly preparing to go head-to-head with many of the nation’s top Open Wheel Modified pilots in Florida, there has been some big off-season news for the team.  Most notably the team has welcomed Fierge Auto Parts, based in Quincy, Illinois.  Fierge Auto Parts is one of the nation’s largest, salvage yards, and company owner, Randy Fierge, has a long history in the motorsports world.  In addition to sponsoring some of the top regional drivers, including Steve Fraise, Fierge has also sponsored some nationally-renowned drivers over the years including Jimmy Spencer and Kenny Wallace.  While Fierge Auto Parts has not graced the side of a race car in several years, the company makes a return as a racing sponsor for the 2012 season after taking note of the rapid progression of Jake Griffin in his career.   

In regards to the new sponsorship Jake comments, “For Mr. Fierge and his family to decide to become involved with my program means a lot to me.  He’s helped a lot of great drivers over the year, and to now be one of those drivers is a really big deal.  I plan to do everything that I can to make his sponsorship as beneficiary as possible.”

Jake recently received more exciting news as he has been cleared to compete in the Asphalt Late Model division at Hawkeye Downs Speedway (Cedar Rapids, Iowa).  This is big news for the team because Jake will be the youngest driver to ever run a Late Model at the facility as well as providing an opportunity for him to gain valuable pavement experience.  He will compete at the track on Friday nights from May until August.  Griffin also plans to compete at Quincy Raceways on Sunday night with his UMP Modified and UMP Late Model.  More information on the respective facilities can be found at www.HawkeyeDownsSpeedway.com and www.QuincyRaceways.com . 

In just a few days Jake will be headed to the Sunshine State for the 41^st Annual UNOH DIRTCar Nationals at the lightning fast, ½ mile oval at Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Florida), where he will take his #08 Bob Pierce Open Wheel Modified into battle.  On Wednesday, February 15^th-Sunday, February 19^th, individual programs will be held, which lead up to the $5,000-to-win, UMP Gator Championship on Monday, February 20^th.  The event will conclude with triple features on Tuesday, February 21^st.  Over 70 of the nation’s top UMP Open Wheel Modified competitors are expected to take part in the event.  For more information on the festivities, please visit www.DIRTCarNationals.com .
