Independence Motor Speedway car show and practice
slated for April 8
Independence, Iowa (March 18. 2006) - For the second straight year, Independence
Motor Speedway's annual car show will be held at Pinicon Ford, Inc. and
Independence Chrysler Jeep, Inc. on 1st St. in Independence on Saturday, April
8.
The show, which will give race fans an early, up-close peek at this year's
competitors, will start with set-up at 7:30 a.m. and registration to follow at
8. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to judge the best appearing
cars in all five classes from 9 until 12 Noon. A sixth award will be presented
to the over-all best of show. The awards will be presented at 1 p.m.
Broadcasting live from the event will be radio personalities from Brite 95.3
KQMG-Radio of Independence.
Divisions competing weekly at Independence in 2006 will include
I.M.C.A.-sanctioned late models, modifieds, stock cars and hobby stocks, along
with the unsanctioned B modifieds. Many cars from all of these divisions are
expected to be on-hand at the April 8 show.
Following the car show, the action will move to the 3/8-mile Independence Motor
Speedway for practice, which is scheduled to run from 2-5 p.m. There is no
grandstand admission, however there will be a $15 practice fee for those wishing
to enter the pits.
The rain date for the April 8 event is the following Saturday, April 15.
The 2006 season opening points night is scheduled for Saturday, April 22. Gates
will open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 6 and the first green flag set to fall at
6:30.
