Aikey-Toland tussle continues July 3 as Deery Series travels
to Independence
INDEPENDENCE, Ia (June 29, 2006) One driver will go home with sole possession
of first place in the point standings, when the Deery Brothers Summer Series
travels to Independence Motor Speedway on Monday, July 3.
Jeff Aikey of Waterloo and Rob Toland of Bettendorf share the top spot heading
into the early holiday show for IMCA Sunoco Late Models. Toland won the series
race at Independence last year, while two of Aikeyıs career leading 46 Deery
victories have been recorded there.
Pit gates at Indee will open at 4 p.m. Hot laps are at 6 p.m. and racing starts
at 6:30 p.m. Twenty four cars will start the $2,000 to win feature.
Rounding out the race card are non sanctioned modifieds, B modifieds and stock
cars.
Toland and defending champion Terry Neal each have a pair of wins to their
credit through the first eight events of 2006. Aikey, Boone McLaughlin of
Mediapolis, Curt Martin of Independence and Marshalltownıs Darrel DeFrance have
each won once.
