Independence Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge Indee Open Series Finale set
for September 2
INDEPENDENCE, IA (Aug. 24, 2006) - The eight race Independence
Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge Indee Open Series will crown its series champions during the
championship event on Saturday, September 2, at Independence Motor Speedway. The
event will feature Indee Series late models, modifieds, stock cars, hobby stocks
and B modifieds.
Extra purse money will be available to those late model, modified and stock car
drivers who have competed in a minimum number of series races in 2006. Late
model drivers who will have competed in at least seven of the eight events will
have the opportunity to take home a $6,000 winner's share with the feature
victory on championship night. Modified drivers signed in for six of the seven
series events will have a chance at a $2,000 top prize. In the stock car
division, those drivers who will have signed in for five of the seven events
will go for a shot at a $1,000 payday.
Late model drivers eligible for the $6,000 victory include Jeff Aikey, Ace Ihm,
Joel Brasch, Darrel DeFrance, Jill George, Cam Granger, Dale Hackwell Jr., Bobby
Hansen, Kevin Kirkpatrick, Curt Martin, Leon Thomsen, Dean Wagner, Rick Wendling
and Randy Wheeler. Modified drivers who are qualified to go for the $2,000 win
are Shane Burbridge, Tim Current, Layne Meyer, Keith Pittman, Kevin Pittman,
Shawn Ryan, Joey Schaefer and Mark Schulte. The five stock car drivers who will
have a chance at the $1,000 include Jason Goedken, Brian Irvine, Jason Niedert,
Roger Samec and Dan Trimble.
The standard winner's share is $2,000 in the late model division, $700 in
modifieds and $400 in stock cars. The hobby stock and B modified divisions will
each pay $300-to-win.
Along with dirt track racing during the series finale, a replica of Dale
Earnhardt Jr.'s NASCAR Nextel Cup car will make its way to the speedway between
4 and 4:30 p.m. and be on display during the show. There will also be over 500
Earnhardt Jr. Budweiser Racing posters to be given away.
Grandstand admission includes $18 for adults, $16 for seniors, $8 for students
12-17, $2 for kids 5-11 and children under 5 free. Pit passes will be $25.
Gates will open at 3 p.m. on September 2 with hot laps set for 5 and the first
green flag scheduled to wave at 5:30.
