Independence Motor Speedway mourns the loss of Dick Frye

INDEPENDENCE, IA (Jan. 8, 2006) - The racing community at Independence Motor
Speedway is mourning the passing of race director Dick Frye. Frye died following
a short illness on January 4 while spending time with his family in Florida. He
was 63.
Frye, who was a member of the Buchanan County Fair Board for nearly 40 years and
served as president for much of that time, took over the reigns as race director
of the speedway prior to the start of the 2005 season.
Frye was born and raised in Independence and took great pride in his community.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and was passionate about
his work as both a fair board member and race director.
Visitation hours will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10, and
Thursday, January 11, at White Funeral Home in Independence. Services will be
held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 12, at First Baptist Church in Independence.
