Independence Motor Speedway promises exciting 2007 season

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (Feb. 19, 2007) - A full schedule is in store for race fans of Independence Motor Speedway for the 2007 season. The schedule, which includes 19 nights of weekly racing, seven Indee Open Series events and the return of the Deery Brothers Summer Series for I.M.C.A. Late Models, is set to begin with opening night action on Saturday, April 21.

Weekly racing will once again showcase I.M.C.A.-sanctioned late models, modifieds, stock cars and hobby stocks, along with unsanctioned B modifieds. Including the April 21 opener, the weekly racing program is scheduled for 19 consecutive Saturdays with season championships planned for August 25.

The first annual Dick Frye Memorial, in honor of the former race director and long-time fair board member who passed away earlier this year, will be held during the Buchanan County Fair on Saturday, July 21.

The Indee Open Series will be making its seventh tour in 2007. A total of seven dates are scheduled, four of which will be held on the 3/8-mile oval in Independence and three dates at Fayette County Raceway in West Union. The series will rotate back-and-forth between the tracks throughout the summer.

The series will start its 2007 campaign on Wednesday, May 2, in Independence. Other Independence series dates include Wednesday, June 6 and Wednesday, July 28, on the opening night of the Buchanan County Fair. Race dates for West Union will include Tuesday, May 22 and Wednesday, June 27, along with the annual Fayette County Fair event on Tuesday, July 24.

The series is set to conclude with the annual Indee Open Series Finale on Wednesday, August 15, in Independence.

The Deery Brothers Summer Series for I.M.C.A. Late Models will be making its annual stop in Independence on Tuesday, July 3, and the fourth annual Indee Outlaw Special will once again serve as the season-ending event on Saturday, October 6.

A pre-season car show and practice is currently scheduled for Saturday, April 7, in Independence. Times and location for the car show will be announced in the near future.
