Pair of fair dates highlight Indee Open Series schedule in
July
INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (July 12) -Ferris wheels, funnel cake and fast racing. Those
three things will go hand-in-hand as the Climate Seal Insulation Indee Open
Series serves as the opening night attraction for a pair of county fairs in
northeast Iowa later this month.
The series first kicks off the 149th Buchanan County Fair on Tuesday, July 18,
at Independence Motor Speedway. It will be the first appearance at the series'
home facility since the season opener on May 2 and the fourth of seven-scheduled
series races this season. The June 6 event scheduled at the speedway was rained
out and is slated to be made-up on Wednesday, August 1.
Late model driver Chad Simpson takes the division's points lead into the July 18
event. He sits eight markers ahead of Steve Ihm. Each of those drivers have
earned one series win this season.
Likewise, Ron Barker looks to extend his modified points lead when the series
takes to the track on the 18th. He also holds an eight-point lead over his
nearest competitor, Mark Schulte.
Along with late models and modifieds, stock cars will round out the three
classes of cars competing on the 3/8-mile oval.
Gates will open at 4 p.m. on July 18 with hot laps scheduled for 6:30 and racing
set to start at 7.
The series continues its county fair tour the following week on Tuesday, July
24, when it kicks off the 2007 Fayette County Fair at Fayette County Raceway in
West Union. It is scheduled to be the third and final appearance at the facility
this season for the Indee Open Series.
Late models, modifieds, stock cars and B modifieds will headline the West Union
finale.
Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. with hot laps scheduled for 6:30. Racing is set to
go green at 7.
At each of the events, grandstand admission will be $15 for adults, $13 for
seniors, $8 for students 12-17 and $2 for children 6-11. Kids five and under
