Irvine enjoys second night success In IMCA American Stock Car Series

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (July 1) – Brian Irvine endured a tough outing before a long ride back from the first race in the IMCA American Stock Car Series.

Closer to home, the story was different when the series traveled to Independence Motor Speedway for the second night show.

Irvine collected the $1,000 checkers Wednesday at Indee after leading the final 13 circuits of the 30-lapper. The only caution of the contest came with three laps left and erased his six car length advantage, but Irvine pulled ahead on the re-start and won ahead of Jeff Joldersma.

Joldersma took over the top spot in the point stand ings with his runner-up finish. Justin Temeyer, Jesse Colwell and Mike Nichols completed the top five.

The first car out of Tuesday’s series event at Buena Vista Raceway in Alta, Irvine drew the fifth starting position and ran close behind Temeyer for the first dozen laps and then Nichols for the next five before taking the lead himself.

John Heinz advanced 11 positions to finish sixth. “B” qualifier Trent Murphy was a plus 14 on the night, finishing eighth.

Fifty-one Stock Cars were in the pits at Indee.

The overall series title, qualifying eligibility for the Sunoco Race Fuels Race of Champions and shares of a $1,500 point fund will be determined when the tour wraps up Thursday at Marshalltown Speedway.

The winner of that feature earns $1,250.

IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Chevrolet Northern Sport Mods are also on the Marshalltown card, in $400 and $300 to win events, respec tively.
