Davenport Speedway Rained Out
DAVENPORT, Iowa (June 22) - Heavy rains yesterday and today have washed out the
stock car racing program at the Davenport Speedway for Friday, June 22nd. This
is the second rain out at Davenport this month. Racing will return to the
quarter-mile dirt oval located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds next
Friday, June 29th, weather permitting.
Tonight's rain out is an additional blow to the Sunoco I.M.C.A. Late Models. Ten
of the top twenty drivers in IMCA Late Model National Points are Davenport
regulars. Five of the weekly competitors are in the top ten, led by Bettendorf's
Rob Toland.
Going into the second half of the 2007 season, the battles for the track
championships at the Davenport Speedway are beginning to take shape.
In track points for the IMCA Late Model division, Matt Ryan of Davenport, has a
slim 2-point lead over Terry Neal of Ely. Andy Nezworski is currently third in
points.
In the V-8 Modified class, Moline's Thad Wilson leads the way with three feature
wins and a 22-point lead. Kevin Blum, with two victories is second. Bob
Dominacki is third in points, with Doug Crampton and John Bull close behind.
Moscow, Iowa's Brad Tyler holds a 6-point lead over Joe Beal of Milan in the
Street Stock division. Each driver has two feature wins so far this year. Henry
Carson is third in points, only seven markers back.
Other Davenport Speedway point leaders are: Warren Ropp in INEX Legend Cars,
Jake Waterman in B-Mods, and Ricky Kay in 4 Cylinder Stock.
Stock car racing action begins at 6:30pm every Friday night at the Davenport
Speedway.
