Sanctioned Modifieds, Hobby Stocks back at Hamilton County Speedway this season WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (Jan. 10) – Hamilton County Speedway resumes sanctioning its Modified and Hobby Stock divisions with IMCA this season. Both classes were last featured in regular weekly shows at Webster City in 1991 and will join the IMCA Sunoco Late Models and IMCA Sport Compacts on Saturday night programs. “We’ve had the Modifieds back for a couple special events since then and the turnout was always very good, in terms of car count and grandstand attendance,” noted promoter Al Uhrhammer. “Sanctioning with IMCA gets us in line both rules and procedures-wise with more tracks in the area and that should be a plus for drivers, especially the point chasers.” Opening night at Webster City is scheduled for April 12, with point races for Modifieds, Hobby Stocks and Sport Compacts continuing through Aug. 30. The Late Model point season runs from April 26 to Aug. 23. Hamilton County Speedway will be in the SuperFlow North Central Region for Modifieds and the Jet Racing Northern Region for Hobby Stocks. Both drivers winning 2007 IMCA track titles at Webster City won nationals crowns as well, as Darrel DeFrance and Jena Barthelmes took top honors in the Late Model and Sport Compact classes, respectively. “That was pretty neat,” Uhrhammer said. “I was pretty happy that two national champions won track championships here, too.” |
