Karl Chevrolet Announces Sponsorship of Brett Moffitt Racing ANKENY, IA (May 14) – Karl Chevrolet is proud to announce a new sponsorship agreement between the Ankeny, Iowa Chevrolet dealership and Brett Moffitt Racing. The fifteen year old Moffitt from Grimes, Iowa, is also associated with the Slinger, Wisconsin based, 5K Motorsports Team, as a development driver competing in the ASA Late Model North Series and the ASA Late Model Challenge Series. Moffitt’s young resume includes a successful career in WKA and IKF go-cart racing, including a prestigious “Golden Driller” trophy from the annual “Tulsa Shootout”. As a 2007 rookie in the IMCA Karl Chevrolet Northern SpotMod division, Brett won one of Modified racings premier events, the “Harris Clash”. With that win Moffitt placed his name in the Knoxville, IA Raceway’s record book as the youngest person ever to win a feature event at the famed half mile facility. Fast forward to 2008, Moffitt continues his winning ways, recording his first win of 2008 in March during the annual Beatrice, NE Speedway “Spring Nationals”. In April, Moffitt would make his first ASALMS North Series appearance, at Indianapolis’ O’Reilly Raceway Park. Qualifying in the 12th position, Brett would over come late race adversities to finish an impressive 11th, in his second time ever in asphalt Late Model racing. Using that finish as a spring board, Moffitt has qualified extremely well against seasoned veterans and raced to 5th and 3rd place finishes respectively, in two appearances at the Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On Saturday May 3rd, the Moffitt Racing Team traveled to Odessa, MO with plans on getting more asphalt seat time, at the “Fastest Weekly Race Track in America”, the I-70 Speedway. With limited practice on the speedways 30 degree high banks, Moffitt not only set fast time for the night, he set a new track record on the speedways American Racer track tires. Due to track rules, the first timer lined up at the tail of the field for the start of the A Feature. But, when the checkered flag fell, Moffitt lead the areas best Late Model racers across it, scoring his first ever Asphalt Late Model feature win. Brett’s abilities to succeed in every racing situation that he has been put into, has caught the attention of many in the motorsports arena, including Karl Chevrolet’s owner, Carl Moyer. “We are proud to be associated with Brett; he is a great young man who possesses a tremendous amount of talent behind the wheel of a race car”. “At fifteen years old, his resume is already very impressive and we are thrilled to be able to help him take the next step in what we believe will be a very successful career in auto racing”, stated Moyer. The new Karl Chevrolet Sponsorship agreement will support Moffitt’s racing efforts locally in his IMCA Karl Chevrolet Northern SpotMod powered with the GM Performance Parts 602 Crate Engine, the 5K Motorsports prepared, GM Performance Parts powered 604 Crate Engine Late Model that Moffitt will use to compete in regional competition at tracks like Hawkeye Downs Speedway and I-70 Speedway. The sponsorship from Karl Chevrolet will also extend to the Moffitt driven, 5K Motorsports prepared ASA Late Model North Series and Challenge Series Late Models that are also powered by the GM Performance Parts 604 Crate Engine. Moffitt’s first appearance in the Karl Chevrolet Sponsored, 5K Motorsports Monte Carlo will be on Saturday, May17th at the Iowa Speedway. The Saturday “Pride of Iowa” event will also mark his first appearance in an ASA Late Model Challenge Series event. Moffitt commented, “I can’t wait for this race, it will be the fastest track I have competed on so far and Iowa Speedway is my home track”. “I am also excited that my first race with Karl Chevrolet sponsorship will be in front of their customers, employees and management staff”. Moffitt will start the race weekend with an appearance this Thursday at the “All Things Racing” promotional event at Karl Chevrolet. The event scheduled from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm May 15th will allow area fans to meet with Moffitt and his 5K Motorsports teammate, Kris Stump. There will be displays and representatives present from the Iowa Speedway, ASA Late Model Series, GM Performance Parts, GM Accessories, 5K Motorsports and Karl Chevrolet. The Iowa Pork Producers will be on hand, serving pork sandwiches and drinks. KGGO personality, Lou Sipolt, will be broadcasting live 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm from the dealership.
