Murphy scores second win at Davenport by Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Ia. (June 6) - Friday was Make-A-Wish Night at the Davenport Speedway. The event was sponsored by Swiss Valley Farms and LegendsCentral.com. Mike Murphy Jr., captured his second victory of the season at the Davenport Speedway. Murphy took the IMCA Late Model feature win by holding off Ray Guss Jr. and Hershel Roberts. Matt Ryan and Boone McLaughlin completed the top five. John Ahlers scored a surprise win, taking the Pro Mod 20-lap feature. Ahlers, who competed in B-Mods last season, beat Rick Ratliff to the checkers. Thad Wilson, trying to get back to the points lead, finished third, followed by Chad Patch and Kevin Blum. Jeremy Marquette made it two straight in the Street Stock division. Marquette was again followed to the finish line by Cary Brown in second. Gerald Ward, Kevin Schloemer, and Tim Koehler rounded out the top five. Kelly Meyer returned to the winner's circle in the B-Mod main. The win was Meyer's second of the year at Davenport. Craig Crawford was second, with Pat Fennelly third, and Perry Mitchell fourth. George Hubbard, in his first visit to Davenport this season took fifth. Darrick Calhoun topped a large field of cars in the INEX Legend Car feature. Warren Ropp came home second followed by Dennis Begyn, Jeremy Meyer, and Aaron Meyer. Ricky Kay became the first driver in the 2008 season to beat Wade Dahl.in
the 4 Stock class. While Kay took the win, Josh Riley finished second and
Steven Phillips third. Dahl took fourth, ahead of Kevin Haury in fifth |
