Jon Agan Joins Burnham Racing Enterprise for 2009 Season
OTLEY, IA (Nov. 24) – Boyd and Lisa Burnham of Burnham Racing Enterprise (BRE)
announce Jon Agan, from Knoxville, Iowa, will drive their No. 54 sprint car
in 2009.
Since beginning competition at Knoxville Raceway in 2000, Burnham Racing
Enterprise has reached victory lane four times. In 2008, the team claimed
one feature win and a top-five finish in the season-long point battle.
“2008 was a great success,” said team owner Boyd Burnham. “We feel primed
for a run at the Knoxville Championship Cup in 2009, and the addition of Jon
increases our confidence level.”
Agan, 29, returned to sprint car racing in 2008 after two years away from
the cockpit. In a limited schedule, Agan posted impressive results including
numerous podium finishes, multiple heat race wins, two Hard Charger awards,
and broke the Knoxville Raceway 10-lap track record for the 360 sprint car
division. Agan finished 8th in the season-long point battle while only
competing in 75 percent of the races held at Knoxville Raceway.
“I am truly excited about joining Burnham Racing Enterprise,” said Agan. “We
have already begun our preparation for the upcoming season, and our
resources are strong. I look forward to piloting a top-notch sprint car and
competing not only for wins but also a track championship.”
BRE’s focus in 2009 will be competing for the Knoxville Raceway Championship
Cup. The team also plans to compete in regional and national ASCS and Sprint
Invader events in the Maxim Chassis sprint car powered by Wesmar and Ostrich
racing engines. Goodyear Tires, Vortex Wings, ButlerBuilt Seats, M&W
Aluminum and Keizer Wheels will complete the performance package.
Iowa Diamond continues its marketing partnership with BRE, and Dee Zee Truck
Accessories joins Agan in the move to his new team in 2009. Additional
sponsors include KCL Farms, Four Seasons Yard Care, de Roomijs Winkel, Konek
P.C. and Burnham Vinyl Graphics.
“With the support of our great sponsors, the proven success of our equipment
manufacturers and the addition of an experienced driver like Jon, we look
forward to 2009 being our strongest year yet,” said team owner Lisa Burnham.
The 2009 Knoxville Raceway Championship Cup Series opener is Saturday, April
25.
