Davenport Speedway Geared for Fast Start in ‘09
DAVENPORT, IA. (March 31) - The Davenport Speedway, located at the
Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, will host two traveling series events and
debut a new weekly class in a busy month of April.
Speed will be on the minds of racers and fans alike on Saturday, April 4th,
when the cars and stars of the World Dirt Racing League take on the big
Davenport half-mile oval.
The winner of the WDRL 40-lap feature will pocket $5,000. Chad Simpson of
Mt. Vernon, Iowa, is the defending WDRL champion. Also in the same program
will be Pro Mods, racing for $800-to-win.
Friday, April 10th, is a scheduled open practice session on the quarter-mile
track. The practice session will start at 6:30pm. The April 10th date is
also the rain date for WDRL event and will pre-empt the practice if needed.
The IMCA Deery Brothers Summer Series for Late Models visits the Davenport
Speedway on Friday, April 17th. The event is sponsored by O’Reilly Auto
Parts.
The battle for the 2009 track championships begins Friday, April 24th, at
the Koehler Electric Season Opener.
Joining the weekly racing program this season is the IMCA Modified class.
The IMCA Modifieds are replacing the B-Modified division. The other five
weekly classes (IMCA Late Model, Pro Mods, Street Stocks, 4 Cylinder Stocks,
and INEX Legends) remain unchanged.
