IMCA Late Model racer, Kevin ‘the Wildman’ Blum (Colona, Ill.) had five feature wins, at Davenport this past season, which help propel him into the IMCA Late Model National Championship. Blum won the title over Terry Neal by a single point. Nine of the top twenty drivers in IMCA National Late Model Points competed at the Davenport Speedway this past season. Six were weekly regulars at the track. The INEX Legends division had two drivers win national crowns. Wisconsin’s Eric Barth, captured the INEX Legends Dirt Masters division. Mike Mueller, also from Wisconsin, won the INEX Legends Dirt Semi-Pro national title. B.J. Bates of Long Grove, Iowa, was fourth in the INEX Legends Dirt Young Lions national points. Marion, Iowa’s Max Corporon won eight feature races en route to the 2009 IMCA Modified track championship at the Davenport Speedway. Corporon’s efforts also earned him an 8th place finish in IMCA Modified National Points. 2009 was the first season for the IMCA Modifieds as a weekly class at the Davenport Speedway. The IMCA Modified is the largest sanctioned stock car classification in the nation. In the 2009 point season, 213 drivers competed in the weekly classes at the Davenport Speedway.
