WEST LIBERTY (April 17) - Racing fans of all ages were treated too some great racing action here at the Muscatine County Fairgrounds as the West Liberty Raceway opened the 2010 racing season with the Sperry Engine Spring Championships here Saturday night in all five divisions. In the open late model division Mick Wiele jumped out and lead the first couple of laps before Jeff bone Larson moved his mount to the point. Larson had things well in control leading from lap three to lap twenty two when he and a lapped car made contact ending his night.this made a double front row of Kurt and Kevin Kile on the restart, with Kurt grabbing the lead leading the remaining twelve laps and the first late model victory of the season.Kevin Kile placed second,Nick Marolf third, Denny Eckrich fourth, with Brian Van Dusen fifth. Brad Dierks only lead one lap in the twenty lap open wheel modified feature.It was the one that counted.He had a flat early on,changed it came from the rear saw drivers Jason Schueller lead laps one through twelve and Jeff Larson laps thirteen through nineteen before he made his heroic charge when out of nowhere on turn four came down to the checkers with the victory in hand his second of the young season overall.Steve Stewart came from fifteenth to place second, Jeff Larson third,Larry Herring came from the rear on lap two to place fourth,with Noah Coppess fifth. Greg Gill grabbed the lead on the restart ion lap ten and went on to capture the fifteen lap stock car feature.His smoking race car held up throughout.Scotty Pratt finished second,Dakota Hayden third,Matt Picray fourth with David Brandies fifth. In another exciting finish Brad Tyler only lead one lap of the b-mod feature event and it was the one that counted as he passed Zack Less coming out of turn four coming down the frontstretch for the win. Tyler whose race car is Ford powered was quick to thank Mike Humphries Nick Hixson thirdfor all he's done getting the car lined out for me.Zack Less was second,Nick Hixson third,Dan Hahn fourth with Jesse Smith fifth.. Brandon Bechen was in the right place at the right time as he won the ten lap fler feature.Jeff Miller lead laps one through four,Tyler Kelly laps five through seven until his coil pack went aray,then Bechen was in the right spot to nail down the win.Jeff Miller was second,Jordan Walker third,Ross Davidson fourth,with Rob Axsom fifth
