Birkhofer Bags 10,000 On Night One Of May Daze At West Liberty

WEST LIBERTY, IA (May 1) - Wheeling the MB Customs McDonalds of The Quad Cities J&J Steel late Model special Brian Birkhofer from  Muscatine, Iowa, passed Denny Eckrich from Tiffin, Iowa on lap seventeen, and lead the remaining thirty three laps to notch his first feature win of the 2010 racing season here at the Muscatine County fairgrounds Saturday night before a great crowd.

This was night one of the May Days 2 Classic as the drivers head to Farley for round two tommorrow night. Birky Pro Power performed flawlessly and finished severla car lengths ahead of second place finisher the moweaqua missle Shannon Babb who placed second. Billy Moyer was third, Terry Phillips finished fourth, Chad Simpson fifth, the real deal Don Oneal sixth, Andy Eckrich seventh, Brian Shirley eighth, Will Vault ninth, with Denny Eckrich tenth.

Jack Sullivan and Jason Rauen won the two B--Mains.

First late model heat saw Will Vault over Brian Birkhofer,an Don Oneal.The second heat saw Billy Moyer over Andy Eckrich,and Brian Shirley. The third heat was Denny Eckrich over Terry Phillips,and Chris Simpson. The fourth heat saw Chad Simpson over Shannon Babb and Dave Eckrich.40 late models from six states took to transponder qualifying.

In open wheel modified action Jeff Larson Kept Brad Dierks at bay to notch his first open wheel modified feature win of the season leading the twenty lapper from flag to flag and pocketing $600 in the process. Dierks was second, Ryan Dolan third, Bruce Hanford fourth, with Todd Hansen fifth
