DUBUQUE, IOWA (May 23) - Four year veteran Joel Callahan fought tooth and toenail with Terry Neal here at the Dubuque County Fairgrounds Sunday evening during the running of the IMCA late model twenty five lapper one that was hard fought. Neal grabbed the early lead and set sail on the top side and already had one win under his belt for the weekend a win last night at Maquoketa in search of number two tonight. Just as he was running well on top, Callahans mount was working extra well on the bottom,in fact as the two of them hit lapped traffic Joel was catching Terry setting up and whale of a finish. The two were neck and neck by lap eighteen and by lap twenty Joel moved his racer ahead for the lead a lead he would never relinquish and go on and capture that first career late model win. Terry Neal place second Jeremiah Hurst third, Andy Eckrich fourth, Jason Rauen fifth, Luke Merfeld sixth, Bobby Hansen seventh Jimmy Brokus eighth, Jon Merfeld ninth with Brian Meiners tenth. Terry Neal grabbed the first IMCA late model heat win with Joel Callahan having a perfect evening winning heat number two. Timmy Current grabbed the lead on lap five then drove a flawless race the rest of the way to win the twenty lap modified feature.Ronnie Barker placed second, Tony Von Dresky was third, Jason Schueller finished fourth, Matt Christ fifth, Ryan DeShaw sixth, Mike Weideman seventh, Chris Zogg eighth, Pete Bolin ninth, with Jason Ulohofen tenth. Timmy Current and Jason Schueller posted heat race wins. Greg Gill grabbed the lead at the outset and never looked back, and went on to win the twelve lap stock car feature. The Muscatine Iowa driver is on an early season roll as he has notched his fifth victory of the year. Jerry Miles placed second,Terry Rittmer third, Jeff Brame fourth, Jed Holland fifth, Jeff Bennett sixth, Matt Bennett seventh, Matt Miller eighth, Austin Heathcock ninth with Joe Bonney tenth .Jon Poll, and Terry Rittmer posted heat race wins. Double Features were the order of the day for the next three classes stemming from last weeks rainout. In the b-mod makeup Jed Freiburger grabbed the lead and put everyone else in check as he motored on for the victory. P.J.Schmitt was second, Brad Tyler third, Kyle Eberle fourth, Jarett Franzen fifth, Ken Boyse sixth, Matt Gansen seventh, Tyler Soppe eighth, Jason Seegmiller ninth,with John Campbell Sr. tenth.Jed Freiburger made it two for two as he came back to claim feature number two winning the second twelve lapper in fine fashion.Kyle Eberle was second, Jarett Franzen third, P.J.Schmitt fourth, Curt Christ fifth, Jason Seegmiller sixth, Tyler Soppe seventh, Ken Boyse eighth, John Campbell Jr. ninth with Jeff Willis tenth. Hoipe Schmerebach took the lead at the outset and went on to win the ten lap makeup limited stock feature.Larry Schultz was second,Tim Schneider third,Nick Weidemeier fourth,Dalton Soppe fifth,Donnie Dean sixth,Kelsey Merfeld seventh,Jeff Baker eighth,Steve Miller ninth,with Jeremy Campbell tenth.Hope then came back and won the regular limited stock feature as well.Once again Larry Schultz placed second,Jeff Baker third,Dalton Soppe fourth Tim Schneider fifth,Steve Miller sixth,Kelsey Merfels seventh,Donnie Dean eighth,Jeremy Campbell ninth,with Nick Weidemeier tenth. Pat Quinn grabbed the lead early on and went on to win the ten alp makeup flyer feature. Drew Bob Beck was seond,John Campbell Sr. third,Wes Digman fourth,Haley Roth fifth, # 26 sixth Chris Roth seventh with Derek McBee eighth.John Campbell Sr came back to capture feature number two ahead of Drew Bob Beck, Pat Quinn,Wes Digman,Haley Roth,Chris Roth,Anthony Hall,#26, Derek McBee.This coming sunday May 30th will be double features for the IMCA LATE MODELS along with modifieds and stock cars
