WEST LIBERTY, IOWA (May 29) - Twenty six modifieds were on hand for the first of three modified specials to be ran here at the Muscatine County Fairgrounds home of the West Liberty Raceway and racing fans of all ages saw a thirty lap modified feature that went right down to the wire here Saturday night. Ryan Dolan started on the pole by virtue of winning the fast dash and quickly vaulted into the lead with Scott Dickey in hot pursiuit along with Stump Brockert and Jason Schueller. Dolan however began to increase his lead by the midway point as Schueller moved to second, Dickey now in third, Steve Boley fourth, and Brad Dierks fifth. Dolan still leading the real excitement came about with three laps remaing as entering turn three Scott Dickey running third spun collecting the cars of Chris Zogg, Brad Dierks, Johnny Spaw, Trent Vrchoticky, and Larry Herring with Herring being the only driver able to continue in the six car melee. This set up a green white checker finish as Dolan grabbed the lead on the restart and lead the final two laps for only his second win thus far this season in the Terry Jamison owned modified. Ryan a twenty five year racing veteran claimed we've been out this week racing five nights in a row and tonight we finally got a win, and its always nice to get one on our home track.Dolan pocketed $1,000 for his efforts. Jason Schueller who started second, finished second and notched $600 for his payday. Getting back in the racing circles and having a real strong run was Steve Boley who started twelfth and finished third and received $400.Mark Schulte moved from fifteenth to fourth while Noah Coppess came from tenth to fifth. Matt Greiner passed Scotty Pratt coming out of turn two on lap ten and lead the remaining five laps in winning his third stock car feature in a row. When asked afterwards what he's doing different this year Matt replied "We don't travel and race as much as we used to. I have an IMCA car that I run in Donnellson on Friday nights that I'm trying to sort out, and we race here and that's it" Greg Gill finished second, David Brandies was third, Justin Speers fourth, Mike Kassabaum fifth. Thirteen year veteran Brad Tyler moved into the lead on lap five then survived a couple of late race restarts to capture his second b-modified feature win of the season. Jason Speers was second, Zack Less third, Doug Pratt fourth, with Robby Rock fifth. Talk about a driver on a row Shaun Slaughter recorded his fourth flyer feature win of the young season. Quite an accomplishment for this race car driver. Nathan Chandler in his first visit here this year placed second, Chris Havil third, Jeff Miller fourth, with Tyler Kelly fifth.
