Hansen Greiner, Less, Slaughter Get Saturday Night Wins at
West Liberty

WEST LIBERTY, IA (June 19) - Racing action resumed here at the Muscatine
County Fairgrounds Saturday night and just as hot as the temperatures were
outside the racing was just as hot on the track as well. In the Gustaf
Engine and Machine Modified division twenty seven drivers showed up to do
battle with a $1,000 to win on the line for one lucky driver at the end of
thirty laps The Preliminaries had been run, the stage had been set,the
drivers were ready.Scott Dickey and Noah Coppess brought the field around
for the waving green only to have the two drivers themselves get hooked up
Dickey breaking his steering and Coppess hitting the turn one wall hard.Once
the race was finnally started Ryan Dolan charged to the front with Dan
Chapman close behind. These two drivers ran one two through lap twenty one
when Dolan tagged the backstretch then broke his steering going into turn
three,bringing out a caution.This made a double front row of Dan Chapman and
Todd Hansen on the restart. Hansen shot out of the gate like a cannon
grabbing the lead by several car lengths over Chapman in the remaining laps
winning his first career modified victory in eleven years of racing and
seven in a modified.
The win for the popular young man from muscatine,iowa was worth $1,000.Dan
Chapman in his first visit here this year was second,Nick Nevins came from
eighteenth to place third,Larry Herring came from seventeenth back on a
fourteenth lap caution to run fourth with Zack Less doing double duty
tonight already a feature winner in the b-mod division placing fifth.
In the Kile Motorsports Stock Car Division this was a hum dinger of a
fifteen lapper.David Brandies lead the first couple of laps,when Greg Gill
took over and lead laps three through five. Brandies and Gill would then see
saw back and forth laps seven through eleven. Enter the pictuer the winner
of the last four features Matt Greiner. As Brandies And Gill were Having
their Battle Griener joined the frey making it a three car battle setting up
and exciting finish with two to go. Going to the white flag lap Brandies
Held the advantage, but as both cars came out of turn four Greiner motored
underneath and around for the win his fifth in a row bringing the crowd to
its feet.Brandies was second, Greg Gill third,Justin Speers
fourth,with Mike Cassabaum fifth.
In the Spenler Tire fifteen lap B-Mod feature young Zack Less found his
groove early on and motored on for his second win of the season here at the
speedway.Jerry Pratt was second,Bub Erwin third,Nick Hixson fourth with
twelve year old Tanner Allen fifth.
In The US6 Body Farley Flyers Shaun Slaughter came from the rear of the pack
to notch his sixth flyer feature victory of the season.Tyler Kelly who lead
tghe first eight laps finished second,Jeff Miller third,Jordan Walker
fourth,with Rob Axsom fifth.
