WEST LIBERTY, IOWA (August 10) - Twenty year racing veteran Denny Eckrich started on the pole after winning the qualifying dash, survived a couple of late race restarts and went on to capture the I-Wireless, West Liberty State Bank Tornado Tuesday $10,000 super late model win here at the West Liberty raceway Tuesday night. The win for Eckrich was his first since winning on opening night in 2009. Eckrich who won the dash finished second in his heat and qualified seventh overall out of the thirty three entrants signed in to do battle. Brian Birkhofer who dominated this race one year ago started ninth in the grid and ran second to Eckrich. Fifth starting Don Oneal ran third in the Larry Mohring Motorsports entry. Will Vault winner of the last tornado Tuesday race at farley came home fourth, with Chad Simson placing fifth. Denny Eckrich won the dash over Chris Simson, Chad Simpson, Brian Harris, Will Vault, and Dave Eckrich. Jeremiah Hurst won the first heat over Billy Moyer and Chris Simpson. Brian Birkhofer won the second heat over Denny Eckrich and Chad Simpson. Andy Eckrich won the third heat over Will Vaught and Bub McCool. Don O'Neal won heat number four over Brian Harris, and Dave Eckrich. Nick Marolf,and Skip Fre won the two b-mains. Seventy laps have now been completed in the Gustaf Engine and Machine modified division as tonight eighteen year racing veteran Dean Mahlstadt grabbed the lead at the start and never looked back chaliking up his first win of the season leading the twenty lapper from flag to flag. Ryan Dolan placed second, Brad Dierks third, Steve Stewart fourth, with Scott Dickey fifth. Chris Zogg,and Ryan Dolan posted heat race wins.
