MAQUOKETA, IOWA (August 21) - On Budweiser night at Jackson County Speedway Saturday night one hundred cars showed up to get prepared for next weeks Season Championship racing.  In the 4-Stock division feature Scott Booth charged into the early lead , but on a fifth lap restart fifth place starter, Jake Montoya took over.  Soon Montoya was holding off the challengers of Jake Ellithorpe.  Montoya went on for his second win of the year with Ellithorpe second.  Rob Harding Sr. took third over his son, Robbie Harding Jr’s fourth.  Kayla Cox had her best finish of the year taking fifth.

Pole sitter, Joe Grant took the early lead of the Hobby Stock feature, but spun coming off turn four on lap eight.  On the restart eighth place starter, Kile Vohringer went out front in his Mopar and never looked back as he went on for his second win of the year.  It was also good for giving Vohrinter a two point lead in the point race.  Nate Yoerger was second with twelfth place starter, Mike McGarry third.  Cameron Sorgenfrey was fourth with Joe Grant coming back for fifth.

Third place starter, Todd Reed led the first two laps of the caution free IMCA Modified feature with Marty Scheckel taking over on lap three.  By lap eleven ninth place starter, Mark Schulte was putting pressure on Scheckel.  At lap twelve Schulte moved out front and went on for his second victory of the season.  On the white flag lap Dan Klatt moved in to take second with Scheckel holding on for third.  Going into next week Klatt now has a one point lead in the point race.  In a last lap charge coming off turn four Cory Bauer edged out Matt Wilson as they finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

Timmy Current was called on to pilot Joe Bonney’s Street Stock car as Bonney had other commitments for the evening, and Current made it pay off.  Emily Gade took the early lead of the feature and by lap two Current had come from his eighth place starting spot to be part of a three car battle with Gade and Dan Mohr for the lead.  On a fifth lap restart Current edged by Gade to take the lead, but Gade came back on lap six.  Current moved back out front on lap nine and went on for the victory.  On a last lap charge Mohr moved in to take second with Gade holding on for third.  Jed Holland was fourth with Arthur Carle coming from fifteenth to take fifth.

Front row starter, Greg Mickelson took the early lead of the Gade Racing Engines/Shirts’n’Stuff Pro Modified feature with Timmy Current taking over on lap four.  A ninth lap restart had Doug Crampton charge out front and never look back again for his fourth win of the year.  On lap swelve Thad Wilson got by Current and went on for second.  Current held on for a strong third with Ray Cox Jr fourth and Brian Bushong fifth.

The B & D Pit Stop IMCA Late Model feature saw Joe Ross take the early lead with Jeremy Gustaf taking over on lap six.  A seventh lap restart had eleventh place starter, Terry Neal charge out front with twelfth place starter, Ray Guss Jr moving into second on lap twelve.  At lap thirteen a caution flew which tightened the field back up, but once again Neal was unstoppable as he led the rest of the way to take his seventh victory this year.  Guss was second with Doug Nigh a strong third.  Gustaf held on for fourth with Dustin Edwards fifth.  Guss goes into next week with a slim four point lead in the points race.  After the regular program Powder Puff races were won by Megan steffen of Bernard, Kelly Folkers of Center Junction and Holly Wilson of Le Claire.  Next week’s Season Championship night will decide point champions in almost every division.  The gates will open at the regular time with hot laps at six-thirty and racing at seven.
