TIPTON, IOWA (August 25) - Jeff Aikey started fourth on the grid passed pole sitter Denny Eckrich on lap four, built up a good size lead and was never seriously challenged as he went on to capture his second Dart Corn Belt Clash win of the season here at the Cedar County Raceway in Tipton, Iowa, Wednesday night before a good crowd. Aikey. The winningest driver ever in the IMCA Deery Brother Summer Series; moved through traffic like fine wine throughout the event keeping the rest of the competitors at bay. One driver making his way through the field was seventh place starter Justin Kay. Kay moved to fifth by lap eleven, third by lap seventeen, and into second by lap twenty three where he stayed the rest of the race finishing strong to the runnerup spot to Jeff Aikey. Denny Eckrich placed third, hammer down Jason Rauen fourth, with series wins leader and points leader Chad Simpson relegated to starting in the twenty fourth spot after having mechanical issues forgoing his heat race, coming from last to fifth passing Kurt Kile on the last lap for that position, Kile sixth, brothe Chris Simpson seventh, Jake Meier eighth, Andy Eckrich ninth, with Dale Stolte tenth. Kurt Kile, Nick Marolf, and Jake Meier posed the three heat race wins as 24 entrants were on hand for the evening festivities.. Mark Schulte grabbed the lead at the drop of the green flag staved off a couple of late race restarts and went on to capture the $700 to win a-modified feature event as thirty competitors lied the pit area. Schulte who started on the pole, was followed across the line by Ryan Dolan in second, Mike Burbridge third, Dan Chapman fourth, with Steve Stewart rounding out the top five. Doinovan Lodge, Dan Kessler, and Bill Butteress, posted heat race wins with Dan Albright winning the semi-feature. Brad Chandler came from his fourth starting position to win the hornet feature and the $250 top prize. Jerrod McMichael was second, Nate Chandler third, Chuck Hansen fourth, with Steve Miedke fifth.
