Eckrich, Miller Win Race Of Champions, Chandler Snares Flyer Feature During Night One Of Liberty 100

WEST LIBERTY, IOWA (September 26) - The 2010 Liberty 100 got off to a rousing start here at the West Liberty Raceway Friday night as the race of champions were held in both the open late model and IMCA late model divisions as well as preliminaries in all classes. In the Open Late Model division Andy Eckrich started on the pole and never looked back winning the twenty lap Race of Champions event leading the race from flag to flag. Brother Denny Eckrich finished second, Jeremiah Hurst was third, Darren "The Thriller" Miller fourth, Brian Birkhofer fifth, Nick Marolf sixth, Chad Simpson seventh, Ray Guss Jr eghth wheeling Brian Harris machine, Jeff Guengerich ninth, with Steve Boley tenth.

In the Imca Late Model Race of Champions Tyler Breuning grabbed the early lead and lead for the first eighteen laps until Darren Miller dove underneath him in turn three with two laps remaining and went to post the IMCA Late Model Race of Champions victory coming from the eleventh slot to do so. Rob Toland finished second, Tyler Breuning was third, Andy Eckrich fourth, Mike Garland fifth, Ray Guss Jr.sixth, Terry Neal seventh, Jeff Aikey eighth, Darrell DeFrance ninth, Jim Brokus tenth, with Matt Ryan eleventh.

Brad Chandler took advantage of Jerrod McMichaels misfortune as McMichael dropped out coming down the backstretch on the last lap, and Chandler went on to post the twelve lap flyer feature victory. Brannon Beschen was second, James Roose third, Wayne Noble fourth, with Nathan Chandler fifth. Brad Chandler and Steve Miedke posted heat race wins'
