VINTON, Iowa (Dec. 5) – Twenty-eight Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod drivers who competed with crate engines this season earned shares of $9,500 in bonuses paid by GM Performance. Bonuses of $250 were paid to the top driver in local track point standings who ran a crate engine for the entire 2010 race season. Those checks have been mailed from the IMCA home office. "This GM crate engine bonus has been a great benefit to drivers as well as sanctioned tracks and the GM commitment will continue to provide cash awards to our Northern SportMod drivers through the foreseeable future,” IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder said. “Since the inception of this engine package it has provided our drivers with an affordable and competitive option for Northern SportMod racing." Several tracks sanctioning the division did not have enough races to qualify and/or did not have any drivers competing with a crate engine.
