WEST LIBERTY, IA (May 7, 2011) - Hotter than a firecracker on the fourth of July eleven year racing veteran Brian Harris from Davenport, Iowa started on the pole of the IMCA late model feature and lead all thirty five laps enroute to his third win of the young 2011 campaign here at the west liberty raceway Saturday night. Harris who picked up his second win last night at the davenport speedway was followed across the line by Nick Marolf who came from ninth to second, Mike Klinkhammer who finished third from the tenth starting spot, with Mike Murphy Jr. finishing fourth, and Colby Springsteen placing fifth. In an exciting Gustaf Engine and Machine twenty lap open wheel modified feature this one went right down to the wire but came out with the same end result as last week. Noah Coppess jumped into the early lead from his front row starting spot and lead the first four laps. Then the master of the high side second generation driver Ryan Dolan moved his mount to the point and seemed to have things well in hand until a broken axle sidelined him for the evening while leading on lap sixteen. Colt Mather grabbed the lead on the restart and lead the remaining three laps for his second consecutive win in a row for the Webster, Iowa, native. Colt couldn't have raced much further as the right rear was really gone and he barely beat Zack Van Derbeek who finished second for the win. Nate Caruth was third, Larry Herring fourth, with Bruce Hanford fifth. Mark Schulte lead the first four laps but Ryan Dolan grabbed the lead on lap five, then found the pattened high groove to his liking leading the remaining seven laps for his first IMCA type modified feature win at the speedway.
