ANKENY, Iowa (June 8) – JR Motorsports returns as title sponsor for one of IMCA’s most popular Modified series. The second annual Hawkeye Dirt Tour has 11 dates at 10 different tracks in 2011 and JR Motorsports provides a portion of the $6,000-point fund to be paid to top 15 drivers in final point standings. “This series was a tremendous success in its first season and really added to JR’s entire partnership program,” said IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder. “With events at new tracks on the schedule, we’re looking for even bigger and better things from this tour. The support of JR Motorsports is integral to that success.” Vern Jackson and Josh Ruby were winners of the first two Hawkeye Dirt Tour events. Next on the series docket is the June 14 show at Cedar County Raceway in Tipton. Drivers accepting engine claims or exchanges receive JR awards again this season. IMCA Modified drivers get $400 off the purchase of a new short block or complete engine freshen for each claim or exchange. IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Smiley’s Racing Chassis Southern SportMod drivers all get $300 discounts, while IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock drivers receive $200 discounts. Certificates are mailed from the IMCA home office at the end of each month. JR is part of national decal programs for the Hobby Stocks and SportMods, and drivers in all three divisions must display two JR Motorsports decals on their race car. JR also provides heat winner decals to be distributed at all sanctioned events during the regular point season. JR’s Ankeny location includes a showroom, machine shop and warehouse. Its Boone site is home to the Victory Chassis fabrication team and repair services. Retail sales are conducted at both.
