HAWKEYE DOWNS RACING THIS FRIDAY
LIL’ RACER CAR CLUB BIKE RACES ON THE CARD

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (June 28, 2011) - This Friday night, July 1 is Hawkeye
International Trucks Night at Hawkeye Downs Speedway. All six divisions in
the Papa John’s Cup/I-Wireless Championship Series will be in action.
Hawkeye International Trucks and Hawkeye Trucks and Trailers have a Cedar
Rapids location at 2740 6th Street SW in addition to locations in Davenport,
Waterloo, Dubuque, Decorah, and Sterling, IL.
The Lil Racer Car Club is offering members and soon-to-be-members the chance
to race on the Hawkeye Downs quarter-mile on Friday night! Kids should bring
their bikes, helmets and pads to the track. At Intermission the races begin!
A safe holding area will be provided for bikes in the corral next to the Lil’
Racer headquarters under the grandstand.
Mason Mitchell sits atop the Performance Concepts Late Models leaderboard
holding a two point lead over Andy Edwards. Neither of the frontrunners have
visited victory lane yet this season but consistent high finishes have
propelled them to the top of the chart.
Cory Houdek has a nine point cushion over Dave Ballstaedt in Coca-Cola
Sportsmen. Houdek had four feature wins with his most recent coming last
Friday night.
Tim Plummer continues to the lead the way in Budweiser Modifieds with a
nearly double-digit lead over Brian Gibson. Plummer has five feature wins
this season.
Nathan Ballard has a ten marker lead over Matt Petrzelka in Barron Motor
Supply Hobby Stocks. Ballard has four feature wins to Petrzelka’s two.
Matt Blake picked up his first feature win in McGrath Powersports INEX
Legends last Friday night which helped him build a sizable lead over Bryce
Bailey in the points. Blake and Bailey haven’t missed a race this season
which has helped their cause in the point chase.
Brad Chandler holds a narrow eight point margin over Derek Parrott in
Sunline Hornets and is among four different drivers earning feature wins
this season.
The Innovative Signs Trophy Dash is also on the card Friday night with six
drivers from the Sunline Hornets division battling for six laps.
Pre-race ceremonies including the Hanford Post #5 Color Guard kick off at
7:15 pm with the first green flag set to wave at 7:30pm.
Adult admission is still just $10, Senior Citizens (62+) are $7, Students
over 12 are just $5, College Students are just $5 with a valid ID and
Children 12 and Under are absolutely FREE!
