HAWKEYE DOWNS SPEEDWAY PRESENTS PAPA JOHNS CUP/ I-WIRELESS
CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES WEEKLY RACING THIS FRIDAY
DOUBLE FEATURES FOR MODIFIEDS AND HORNETS

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (August 3, 2011) — After a very successful night of racing
last Friday night, drivers and crews are anxious to take to the track this
Friday night, August 5 at Hawkeye Downs Speedway.
All six divisions of the Papa Johns Cup/I-Wireless Championship Series
will again be in action Friday night including double features in the
Budweiser Modifieds and Sunline Hornets.
Kids can again get in on the action Friday night, as the I-Wireless Lil’
Racer Car Club sponsoring a Kids Costume Contest with Fun City Passes to the
winner of the best costume.
Performance Concepts Late Models and Budweiser Modifieds will battle on the
fast Hawkeye Downs half-mile while Coca-Cola Sportsmen, Barron Motor Supply
Hobby Stocks, Sunline Hornets, and McGrath Powersports INEX Legends clash on
the quarter-mile.
In addition to heats and features in the six divisions, six drivers in the
Sunline Hornets division also will compete for hardware in the Innovative
Signs Promoters Choice Trophy Dash.
Brad Osborn’s still has a slim point lead over Andy Edwards in Performance
Concepts Late Models. Edwards is just seven markers behind Osborn in the
title chase. Mason Mitchell sits in third.
Cory Houdek continues to lead the way in Coca-Cola Sportsmen after racking
up his seventh trip to victory lane last Friday night. Dave Ballsteadt
continues to hold down second on the chart while Greg Hentrich rides third
in the standings.
Brian Gibson holds the lead in Budweiser Modifieds as he rides a twelve
point margin over Ryan Luedtke, last Friday night’s winner. Tim Plummer sits
in third.
Matt Petrzelka remains atop the Barron Motor Supply Hobby Stocks standings
with Jeremy Robbins still within striking distance although Petrzelka
widened his margin a bit with a win last Friday night. Nathan Ballard is in
third.
Matt Blake continues to “rule” the McGrath Powersports Legends division
point chart despite not racing last week. Bryce Bailey holds down the second
slot with Dennis Diercks checking in third on the chart.
Brad Chandler continues to lead the way in Sunline Hornets holding a
double-digit lead over his brother Dallas. Derek Parrott is third in the
latest standings.
Pre-race ceremonies kick off at approximately 7:20 pm with the first green
flag set to wave at 7:30pm.
Adult admission for those without Casey’s Tickets is still just $10, Senior
Citizens (62+) are $7, Students over 12 are just $5, College Students are
just $5 with a valid ID and Children 12 and Under are absolutely FREE!
