Aug. 15 Iowa State Fair show next for Deery Series
DES MOINES, Iowa (August 11, 2011) – The driver who’s on a
self-described “little roll” will make his first visit to the Iowa State
Fairgrounds Speedway when the Deery Brothers Summer Series travels to
the capitol city next Monday.
Nate Beuseling of Silvis, Ill., has won the last two IMCA Late Model
tour events and hopes to make it three straight $2,000 paydays when the
series travels to Des Moines for the traditional state fair show on Aug.
15.
“Our goal when we decided to run the whole series was to make all the
shows. We didn’t do that opening night at Dubuque, but we’ve gotten a
little bit better ever since,” said Beuseling, in his fifth Late Model
season at the age of 23. “We’ve been on a little roll since the show at
Quad City Speedway. That’s been pretty cool.”
After running second at East Moline on July 20, Beuseling scored his
Deery career first feature win on July 26 at Knoxville Raceway. He made
it two straight checkers at Tipton’s Cedar County Raceway on Aug. 2.
“What really kind of kicked us off was running fifth at Independence (on
June 29) and at Quincy (on July 3),” Beuseling said. “We led early, then
fought steering issues the last half of the race at Independence. That
made for a long 40 laps.”
Beuseling made the leap to Late Models after two years in a go-kart and
a season-plus in the street stocks. Ray Guss Jr. of Milan, Ill., the
defending Deery champion and Beuseling’s chief rival for the regular
point season title at Davenport, is among the drivers he’s consulted
about the Des Moines track.
“I’ve talked to Ray and some of the other guys who have raced there
before and gotten information for gear changes,” Beuseling said.
“Everybody has been pretty helpful. I’m really looking forward to Monday
night.”
The series record for consecutive feature wins is four, established by
Gary Webb of Blue Grass in 1994 and matched by Rob Toland, then of
Hillsdale, Ill., in 2004.
Pit gates at Des Moines open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 4:30
p.m. Hot laps are at 5:30 p.m. with racing to follow.
Grandstand admission is $15 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12 and free
for five and under. Pit passes are $25. More information is available
from promoter Mick Trier at 515 201-5526 and at the www.jjamracing.net
website.
Andy Eckrich of Iowa City won two straight Deery events earlier this
season and has a four point advantage over Guss in the race for the 2011
title. Terry Neal of Ely is third, 14 points off the pace. Beuseling’s
recent success has him seventh in the standings.
In conjunction with the State Fair Show, driver Charlie McKenna will
have his grill car at Deery Brothers Chevrolet in Pleasant Hill from
11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Monday for the next ‘Partnering For A Purpose’
cookout benefitting Karsyn’s Krusaders. Fareway provides the pork loins,
hot dogs, potato chips and bottled water.
The 14th of 18 events on the silver anniversary series schedule will be
Friday and Saturday, Sept. 2-3 when 34 Raceway hosts the $10,000 to win
Pepsi USA Nationals.
All drivers with perfect attendance through the first 13 tour events
will be eligible to compete in the $750 to win J & J Steel Ironman
feature on opening night at West Burlington.
The Deery Series then headlines opening night action on Monday, Sept. 5
for the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Cenex at Boone
Speedway.
