The Petersen Plumbing & Heating IMCA Late Models have seen a change at the top of the point standings in the last two weeks. Defending track and IMCA national late model champion, Ray Guss Jr. (Milan, Ill.), has passed Nate Bueseling of Silvis, and now leads by 14 points. Stephan Kammerer is third in points and a long shot for the championship, 20 points behind Guss. Bob Dominacki has emerged from the pack in the Engineering Maintenance Service IMCA Modifieds to the point lead into the Season Championships. Dominacki has already scored six feature wins on the season, Brian Webb is second in points, followed closely by Dean McGee, Doug Crampton, and Thad Wilson. The Koehler Electric Street Stock class has been dominated by Jeremy Marquette of Davenport, with seven feature wins. Marquette needs only to start his heat and feature to win the title. Cary Brown is second in points. Emily Gade is third in points and has one feature win. In the LuJack Auto Plaza 4 Stock class, point leader, Wade Dahl’s lead has eroded slightly in recent weeks. Second place Luke Thurness is now just seven markers back, with Chris James a distant third. The Davenport Speedway will host one post-season race in 2011. The historic half-mile oval will come alive again on Friday, September 9th, with the running of the All-Star Classic. Highlighting the racing program at the All-Star Classic will be the Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models. IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, and 4 Stocks will also be racing at the All-Star Classic. The Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street, in Davenport. Pit gates at The Davenport Speedway open at 4:00 p.m., with the grandstand opening at 5:30. Hot laps are at 6:30pm and racing starts at 7pm. For raceday weather information, call (563) 326-5338.
