Wakeeney
Speedway to open race season on April 30
By Mike Hughes
Wakeeney, KS (Feb. 16, 2006) - The Wakeeney Speedway will kick off
its 2006 racing season on Sunday, April 30, with nine races slated
for the upcoming season.
The season opener will start off with a bang as the four regular
classes will be in action along with the NCRA/ASCS 360 Sprint Car
Challenge. This event will see the top sprint car drivers from the
Midwest gather at the 3/8-mile oval from both the National
Championship Racing Association and the American Sprint Car Series.
It will also be a points race for each sanctioning body, so all the
drivers will be on hand for this prestigious event.
The annual 2-day memorial challenge will take place on May 28-29,
and the NCRA 360 Sprint Cars have a tentative return date on June
11.
The four regular classes at Wakeeney Speedway will include the IMCA
Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, Bombers and Cruisers. The Super Stock
division has been dropped for the 2006 season.
Gates open each race night at 4:00 with racing getting underway at
6:00.
A test & tune will be held on Sunday, April 23, starting at 2:00 if
enough drivers are interested. If so, you need to contact promoter
Rod Bencken.
