Wakeeney Speedway to open season April 20
By Mike HughesWAKEENEY, KS (April 7) - Wakeeney (KS) Speedway is set to
kick off the 2008 racing season. Wakeeney will again feature Sunday night
racing action on the 3/8-mile oval starting at 6:00 p.m. Regular classes
will include the IMCA-sanctioned Modifieds, Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks,
along with the Cruno division.
The season will open on April 20, with the races dedicated to Keith Garrett,
a long time supporter and helper at the speedway.
The next race is scheduled for May 4, followed by the 8th Annual 2-day
Memorial Challenge on Sunday & Monday, May 25-26. The Sunday night show will
be Steve King Foundation Night and the NCRA 360 Sprint Cars will join the
regular four divisions in action. The regular four classes return Monday
evening.
Regular programs scheduled in June include June 8 and June 29.
Racing action will also take place during the Trego County Fair on Monday
night, July 21. The URSS 305 Sprint Cars will also be in competition that
night with a 7:00 p.m. start time.
Following the August 3rd race, drivers will venture to Rooks County Speedway
in Stockton, KS, for racing action during the Rooks County Fair on Wednesday
& Thursday, August 13-14. Races in Stockton will begin at 7:00 p.m. each
night with just the three IMCA-sanctioned classes in action. The races in
Stockton will be points races for the Wakeeney Speedway.
The season will conclude on Sunday, August 17.
