Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods added at Sherman County
Speedway
GOODLAND, Kan. (June 4) - IMCA Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods will make
their debut at Sherman County Speedway during the Saturday, June 13 program.
Seven more point nights for the class are planned at Goodland, with the
final race scheduled during the 20th annual Flatlander special Sept. 25-26.
"This is a growing class and drivers are looking for more places to race,"
promoter Tom Colby said. "A lot of drivers who had raced Hobby Stocks have
gone to the SportMod. We figured it was time to get on the bandwagon with
them."
He expects an average car count of 10 Northern SportMods at the 3/8-mile
dirt oval this season.
"That will be good for the first year," said Colby.
Now the fourth track in Kansas to feature the class in its weekly shows,
Sherman County also sanctions its Modified, Stock Car and Hobby Stock
divisions with IMCA. A non-sanctioned mini-stock class has been dropped from
Saturday cards.
