Humboldt and 81 Speedway Late Model Challenge Awaits NCRA
DIRTcar Series!
PARK CITY, KS (May 2, 2011) - Fresh off pocketing $10,000 at last weekend’s
second annual “Sunflower State Showdown” at the Great American Dirt Track in
Jetmore, Kansas, Al Purkey of Coffeyville leads the National Championship
Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Smiley’s Racing
Products DIRTcar late model series into a double header weekend with the
Missouri based MARS DIRTcar series.
It all kicks off this Friday night (May 6th) at “The Hummer,” Humboldt
Speedway in Humboldt, Kansas as the fast little quarter mile clay oval hosts
both series for the first time ever in what is billed as the “MARS vs. NCRA
Late Model Challenge.” Then on Saturday night both series will head to the
home of the NCRA, 81 Speedway in the “Duel for the Cup,” presented by
Smiley’s Racing Products.
Over thirty of the top late model drivers in the Midwest are expected to
compete during both nights of racing. Five-time and defending series
champion Kelly Boen of Henderson, Colorado headlines the NCRA DIRTcar
contingent into the two day weekend along with other series regulars Corey
Zeitner of Omaha, Nebraska, Delbert Smith of Wichita, Dean Moore of Grand
Junction, Colorado, Wylan Petrie of Soloman, Kansas, Shawn Harker of
Nebraska City, Nebraska, Cliff Morrow of Enid, Oklahoma, Steve Kempt of
Sheldon, Nebraska and Bill and Billy Koons, Jr. of Omaha.
The MARS DIRTcar regulars of Terry Phillips (Springfield, Missouri), Jeremy
Payne (Springfield), Brad Looney (Republic, Missouri), Jesse Stovall
(Galena, Missouri), Eric Turner (Springfield), David Turner (Creighton,
Missouri), Tony Jackson, Jr. (Lebanon, Missouri), R.C. Whitwell (Tuscan,
Arizona) and Gary Christian (Broken Bow, Oklahoma) are just a few of the
drivers expected to compete with several more non-series regulars also
expected.
Humboldt Speedway is located off of US 169 to the Humboldt exit, then .1
mile west, then .5 mile south, then .9 mile east. Adult general admission is
$20 with kids ages 6-12 just $5 if accompanied by an adult. Pit passes are
$30. Gates open at 6:00 PM with racing set for an 8:00 PM start time. For

81 Speedway is located north of Wichita on I-135 to exit 16, then .7 mile
west on 77th St. in Park City. Gates open 5:00 PM with racing set for 7:00
PM. General admission tickets are just $9 for adults with children ages 6-10
