SuperClean to Sponsor 46th Annual Knoxville Nationals
by: Thomas J Schmeh
KNOXVILLE, Ia (April 28, 2006) – In a joint announcement today by SuperClean
Brands, Inc. and Knoxville Raceway, the 46th annual Knoxville Nationals on
August 9-12, 2006, will be identified as the SuperClean® Knoxville Nationals.
The title sponsorship will include the live Speed Channel 3-hour broadcast and
rebroadcasts.
The SuperClean product line of “tough-task” cleaners and degreasers, marketed
for a full range of automotive and household uses from wheels and upholstery to
patio furniture to driveways, is sold in leading auto parts stores and mass
merchants. According to Ralph Capitani, Director of Racing for Knoxville
Raceway, “This is the first time we’ve had a consumer product for use everywhere
in and around the home, shop, car and track as a major sponsor. It’s continued
recognition that the Nationals appeals to the same fans that other major events
reach, from NASCAR to Indy.”
"SuperClean has a deep automotive heritage with drivers and enthusiasts so it's
a natural connection for us to sponsor the Knoxville Nationals," says Kraig
Reash, COO of SuperClean Brands, Inc.
The 2006 Super Clean Knoxville Nationals purse has been increased to just under
$900,000, with the winners share at $140,000. With 140+ entries from
coast-to-coast, border-to-border as well as Australia, Canada and New Zealand,
the competition for the final 24 starting spots on Saturday night's "A" Main
will be fast and exciting. Wednesday and Thursday features half the entries each
night with a complete racing program. The top 50 in combined points are locked
into the Saturday program – 20 to the “A” Main, 20 to the “B” Main and 10 to the
“C” Main.
Friday features a complete racing program to determine the next 50 to round out
the Saturday program – 10 to the rear of the “C” Main, 20 the “D” Main and 20 to
the “E” Main. Friday night also features the Factory Value Parts Sprint Car
World Challenge for drivers that have qualified through events in Australia,
Canada and New Zealand. With $10,000 to win and bragging rights for a year, this
event attracts many of the top Nationals competitors.
Saturday night will take the top 4 from each main, starting with the “E”, and
put them on the back of the next main. The top 4 from the “B” Main round out the
$7,000-to-start, $140,000-to-win “A” Main.
