CHRIS SMYSER STEPS UP TO THE PLATES FOR THIRD STRAIGHT YEAR AT
KNOXVILLE L.M. CELEBRITY WAITER DINNER & AUCTION
by: Thomas J Schmeh
KNOXVILLE, IOWA (September 9, 2006) - Chris Smyser, an eleven-year dirt late
model veteran with four track championships and one state championship to his
credit, has agreed to serve food and drinks to racing fans for the third
straight year at the Knoxville Late Model Celebrity Waiter Dinner & Auction on
Saturday, September 30, at the non-profit National Sprint Car Hall of Fame &
Museum. Chris, from Lancaster, Missouri, has been one of the most popular
waiters for the past two years at the annual fund-raising event, which is held
in conjunction with the Lucas Oil Knoxville Late Model Nationals, September
28-29-30.
According to museum executive director Tom Schmeh, “I can’t say enough about
Chris Smyser. He is just one of the most fun-loving and generous ambassadors
that the sport of dirt track late model racing has anywhere in the country, to
say nothing of his on-track talent. We really appreciate his willingness to step
up to the plates and help us with our charity dinner and auction again this
year.”
Additional celebrity waiters will be announced in the coming weeks for the third
annual event, which will be held on the second floor of the National Sprint Car
Museum at 12 Noon on Saturday, September 30. A portion of the proceeds from the
affair will again be donated to the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame in
Florence, Kentucky. Tickets are just $15 apiece, which includes admission to the
museum, and can be reserved by calling 1-800-874-4488.
